The name
The yellowhammer has been Alabama's state bird since 1927 — a bird known for hammering out a home in standing timber and coming back to it year after year. The name is also a nod to Tuscaloosa, Alabama's first state capital, where the state got its start on the banks of the Black Warrior River. Building something durable, in a place worth staying — that's the idea.
